BikeAthens Parade of Lights – Downtown Athens Dec 6th!

Parade of Lights – Downtown Athens Dec 6th!

Calling Walkers, Riders! Join Us in the Parade of Lights Thursday, Dec. 6!

The next group ride and walk will be a joyful and chilly one through downtown with thousands of Athenians cheering and clapping.  The event for BikeAthens combines the monthly ride with our participation in the Parade of Lights, Thursday, Dec. 6.

Traditionally, BikeAthens enters a novelty float and riders decorate their bikes with lights, adorn their helmets with reindeer antlers and have a good time slowly riding their way along the parade route. Walkers are needed, also, and should carry flashlights or wear clothing that is brightly lit.

BikeAthens walkers and riders will gather at 6:30PM on Dougherty St.  The parade officially begins at 7PM.  All participating cyclists must wear helmets and have bike lights.

(Above) Members of BikeAthens pose for a photo on Dougherty St. in Downtown Athens before the Parade of Lights in 2010.  (Photos below) Walkers and cyclists alike enjoy the festivities in 2011.  Why not join us as a walker or cyclist in 2012?  Come to Dougherty St. near Pulaski St. at 6:30PM, Dec. 6.  It’s safe for all ages.  The parade starts at 7PM and ends at 8PM.  You’ll have a great time!
