BRP Working on ‘HB4K 2012′ to Meet Mid-December Deadline
Holiday Bikes for Kids 2012, our biggest single donation effort of the year is underway, and the Bike Recycling Program (BRP) is looking for good used children’s bicycles to refurbish and donate to needy kids in our community. We’re also looking for more volunteers, so please come over and join in the effort.
BikeAthens’ BRP has begun retooling the shop to work exclusively on children’s bikes in November-December. By mid-December, BRP plans to donate 60+ bikes to local children being served by schools, social service agencies, or other charitable organizations. Along with donations of bicycles from BikeAthens, children will receive a new helmet and a cycling safety pamphlet.
Feel free to drop off bicycles in any condition at the BRP Shop at Chase Park Warehouse between Tracy and Oneta Streets. The bike shop can accept donations Mondays/Wednesdays 6-8:30PM and Sundays 2-4:30PM. Look for special Saturday open shop times in December!
New and veteran volunteers work together on refurbishing used children’s bikes to fulfill holiday gift-giving desires of social service agencies and schools. BikeAthens will donate as many bikes as it can this season. You can help by volunteering at the shop or by dropping off bikes that can be fixed up for a needy child.
