Following the success of the women’s bike classes in October, we’ll be starting BRP Women’s Night Nov. 27th. The shop, located in the Chase Park Warehouse, will be open every Tuesday night from 6 to 8:30 for women to come to work on bikes. No experience is necessary.
“The popularity of our October women’s bike classes and the great enthusiasm shown by the women in the classes helped fuel the idea for this additional open work session,” BRP Council member Richard Shoemaker said.
Amanda Kenney and Lauren Stone, two of the BRP Council members, and BA Board member Andrea Sweigart will manage the shop on Women’s Nights with temporary help from 1-2 male BRP Council members. “It’ll be a fun volunteer activity where you get to work with your hands and learn how to fix bikes!” Amanda Kenney said. “Working at the shop will also provide an opportunity to meet other women in the community who are interested in bikes and/or volunteering, and the bonus is you’ll learn how to tune up your own bike.”
BRP is currently refurbishing children’s bikes for its Holiday Bikes for Kids 2012 project.
