Katie is an urban planner who recently moved back to her hometown of Athens after working and studying in London, Philadelphia, and Portland. She is particularly interested in using urban design and transportation policy to foster urban places that prioritize humans over cars and parking. She wants Athens to fulfill its great potential as an accessible, liveable small city.
Jennifer Erwin
Jennifer was born and raised in Athens, GA. She attended UGA as an undergraduate and Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, AL. After graduating from law school and volunteering with several different organizations, she realized that practicing law was not what she wanted to do as a career. She began working on her Masters of Social Work at UGA in the Fall of 2011. She has recently started biking, and she enjoys using her bike to commute to work and class. She now works on transportation policy issues with BikeAthens.

He participates in a number of local community organizations, and has done charitable work for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Clarke County School District, and Clarke County Mentor Program. He has recently returned to cycling after a nearly 20 year layoff after his Trek bike (and other possessions) was destroyed by the Missouri River in the flood of 1993 in St. Louis, MO. His interests with BikeAthens involve community outreach, event planning and community education.
Fred Smith
Fred is a retired veterinarian who taught at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine for 32 years. He then worked at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic as studio manager and took up welding as a hobby. Now he works with the Bike Recycling Program (BRP) and builds new trikes from old bikes. He is a Web programmer and has written the software used to manage the bike inventory and volunteer logs at the BRP. He would like to see that everyone who needs a bike or trike can get one and that there are bike paths everywhere.

A former Board member, she served on the ACC Steering Committee for Athens’ 10-year Comprehensive Plan, where she coordinated the community meetings that wrote the Transportation Vision. She has worked with the city in advocating for all Transportation Choices and community engagement within transportation planning and funding.
